Product care

Style endures. So should the shoes you walk in. Jia De Lara shoes are built to last but care should be taken to keep them at their best.

  • Your Jia De Lara shoes should be kept dry so wearing them in the rain should be avoided.

If they do become wet they should be left to dry naturally, away from any direct sources of heat that may damage the material or shape of the shoe.

Keep Jia De Lara shoes out of contact with alcohol, oils, solvents which can damage the materials.

  • The natural materials used in our design may change in colour if left in direct sunlight. Shoes should be stored in their box and inside the Jia De Lara dust bag provided, in a cool, dry environment, away from light and heat. Ensure shoes with crystals, buckles and other embellishments are stored in a way that prevents these components rubbing up against the surface of the other shoe. Always ensure shoes have been ventilated before storing them away.

To keep your shoes in their original shape, we recommend stuffing them with colour-free tissue paper or using a shoe tree.

  • Should your shoes become soiled, they can be cleaned gently using good quality leather care products applied with a soft, dry cloth. We recommend first testing the product on an inconspicuous area to ensure colour fastness and that the material remains untarnished. Always follow the instructions provided when using leather care products.

You should never attempt to clean your shoes with soap or water as this will affect the quality and finish of the materials.

  • The naturally textured surfaces of fish skins are delicate, so it is important to avoid contact with sharp or abrasive objects and surfaces. Surface dirt can be gently removed by using a clean, dry, soft cloth however care should be taken not to pull or rub the scales. Atmospheric conditions, light exposure and general usage over time may cause scales to naturally lift and/or change colour.

  • Recycled plastic used throughout our collections can be gently cleaned by using a clean, dry and soft cloth. Do not spray with any leather care products as this may tarnish the surface of the shoe by altering the clarity of the materials.

  • The lining of your shoes is made from smooth recycled leather and sustainable synthetic materials. Surface dirt can be gently removed by wiping it away with a clean damp cloth. For shoes with suede lining, a soft suede brush can be used to gently smooth the pile.

  • The soles of our shoes are made of smooth and delicate leather and will therefore be subject to marking upon first wear. Expect them to naturally wear down with further usage. We do not recommend walking on any wet surfaces as this may alter the structure of the soles and cause staining to shoes which can be difficult to remove. We advise against replacing the soles as this may alter the structure of the shoes, but heel tips should be replaced by a good cobbler before the inner heel structure begins to show.
